This review presents the literature data regarding specific aspects of acute pulmonary embolism (PE) in women. The overall age- and sex-adjusted incidence PE was found to be higher men however, risk older women exceeded that age-matched men. Risk factors for included age, rheumatologic disorders, hormone replacement therapy or oral contraceptives, pregnancy postpartum period, recent surgery, immobilization, trauma, obesity, heart failure. Women with tended older, presented more often dyspnea, hypotension signs right ventricular dysfunction had NT-proBNP levels compared When controlled severity, are less likely receive reperfusion therapies, such as thrombolysis.
